I applied to be a helpline volunteer for Refuge domestic
violence charity in 2008 and started training early 2009. In May 2009, I commenced work on the helpline supporting women who
have/are living with domestic abuse.
Having sufferred for over 20 years in this situation myself, I always
vowed to give my time back helping other women who are experiencing domestic violence. Six months down the line, I am successfully
doing just that, and in doing so, replaced a negative experience with a positive one.
I am an active member of
the helpline team, sharing my own story with VIPs from Comic Relief..such as Duncan Bannatyne and assisting the Domestic Violence
Helpline to acheive accreditation status.
Every week, another two women escape domestic violence - Be one
of them.

SELF THERAPY
What have you always wanted to do, but
thoughts of inadequacy, self doubt or feelings of low self esteem has stopped you from even entertaining the idea.
Well, there has always been a show queen in me. Once I had worked on rebuilding my self esteem and reintroduced
myself to ....me, I wanted to tackle one more thing....my voice. I spent many years hating my body and my voice. Filming a
presenter showreel helped me to grow to like my body and the way I looked, so to me, the obvious way to like my voice
was to record it! As unconventional as I am, I went back to The London Academy of Media, Film and TV and did a voice
over course.......of course!
I LOVED It....so much so that I went on to record a voice over for a student
director at Bournemouth University on the subject of Forced Adoption a few weeks later!
