WEIGHT CONSULTANT
Weight issues
are the most common concerns in adults today. Reports show that up to 60% of women and 30% of men are worried
about their weight and are looking to do something about it. The Slimming industry is still so commercially successful because so many people are actively seeking to lose weight,
as they are fed up with being overweight. However, we do not always opt for the healthiest option in wanting to keep fit.
About three years ago, I was at my heaviest.
I weighed nearly 19st, was wearing size 24 clothes and was at the lowest point in my life. I had gone to
my doctor’s surgery suffering from a breathing problem to be told I was obese and needed to lose weight.
Although, I really didn’t want to hear it at the time, I knew I had to concentrate on getting my mind sorted
out before I could even think about looking after my body. People want to lose weight for many different reasons. It could be that they want to become healthier, fitter, to feel
more attractive or so that they can wear more fashionable clothes. I discovered that it really didn't matter
why you ultimately wanted to lose the weight, it’s the way you go about doing it!
Up until that time in 2006, I had always suffered with an unhealthy attachment
to food. I swung back and forth during my teenage years between anorexia nervosa – an illness where
the person is obsessed with becoming fat and starves their body to be able to stay thin, even though they are often already
too thin; and Bulimia – another illness where the person is obsessed with not putting on weight and sees their body
as fat. However, instead of starving themselves they have uncontrolled binging sessions where they can
eat anything u to 15,000 calories, leaving them feeling bloated and guilty. This then often leads to self
induced vomiting to get rid of the food they have just consumed. I had studied in depth the theory behind weight issues and achieved a diploma in 1997. It was time to use myself as
a guinea pig and test my theories out on myself. I started by looking at my cognitive behaviour, successfully
discovering where the root of my obsession with foot began.
I am now, wearing size 14/16 clothes and am enjoying the simple things in life again, something I thought I would
never do again. Helping
other people do the same is my passion and vocation.
My role is to help you find the right method of weight loss
and weight control. To motivate and counsel you whilst you lose your weight, helping you make a significant
difference to your life. By working together, I can help you improve your health and well-being. Eating a healthy diet and taking sufficient exercise helps reduce the following health hazards, known to be associated
with being overweight:
· heart and circulatory problems; ·
Digestive system problems;
and · Strain on the skeletal system.
There
is not an ideal slimming diet or an ideal exercise regime that is suitable for everyone. We all have different needs to be
met. We are individuals with a diversity of requirements. I work with the food you eat, whatever your cultural
background. I will help you find the ideal exercise routine to suit your needs and the time you have to undertake it. Always remember, healthy weight loss is a slow, but extremely rewarding process.
It took time for the weight to grow on your body…..it will take time to come off. Healthy weight loss is achieved
at an average rate of 2lbs a week (excluding the first week as this could be more due to the loss of water retention).
The amount of weight loss also depends on the amount of exercise you do and ensuring that you eat enough for your body
to burn fat sufficiently.
